Microworkers

Microworkers is now in direct competition with Mturk. Microworker's addition of the Template Test and Verification (TTV) in 2015 provides requesters with the ability to have workers complete complex tasks on the website just as they do on Mturk. In the wake of the Mechanical Turk fee increases of 2015, workers and requesters are increasingly interested in the specifics of Microworkers and other sites like Mturk. Microworkers is open to all countries, but there are some specifics about fees and payouts that workers and requesters need to keep in mind.
Country Eligibility

Microworkers is open to workers and requesters, who are 18 or older,  from  all countries. View the list of tasks available to workers to see whether each task has country restrictions. Work on a task from any country if there is no flag-like icon next to the task listed. If there is a flag icon, which is accompanied by a number, click on the task to see which countries are eligible. The total number of countries is equivalent to the number next to the flag icon from the previous screen. If you're a requester, choose precisely which countries you wish to use during the task creation process.

Worker Qualifications

Start working right away because there is very little as far an active qualification process for workers. If you're a picky requester in a hurry, consider using special work groups to limit tasks to those who have good experience in similar task categories. Requesters may also limit tasks for specific workers within a Hire Group. Requesters also have the ability to link to an outside site with PHP such that approved workers will see the task, but unapproved workers won't.

Payment

Be ready for a delay of a couple of weeks for your first worker cash out  You must perform a PIN request by mail once you have hit your cash out minimum of around $9.00. After this initial wait, payment is fast and easy.  Each time you reach the minimum withdrawal amount for workers, which is always around $9.00, you must pay an additional 6.5 percent to cash out to a Dwolla account. If you cash out via Paypal, that fee is 7.5 percent.

 Requester Fees

Microworkers has some of the lowest fees available, even after accounting for what the worker pays. According to the Microworkers FAQ-guidelines page, a requester pays 7.5% to Microworkers on top of what is paid to the worker for each satisfied task.  Keep in mind that each worker pays about another 7 percent when cashing out. This puts the effective total for Microworkers right around 15 percent. There is a 10% fee for approved Hire Group tasks, but there's no campaign fee.

It appears that Microworkers may be the best choice for a wide variety of tasks. The same types of surveys that are so popular on Mturk are also increasingly appearing on Microworkers at a significantly lower cost. It's not entirely clear why more requesters haven't already made the switch. Perhaps requesters are concerned about the relatively high abandonment rate for accepted tasks. This is simply a direct result of the fact that Microworkers does not yet have an Open Task screen for workers. If a worker accidentally navigates away from an accepted task, there is simply no way of returning the task.
